Fi-156 FIESELER STORCH
1/35th Scale

In 1936, the Fieseler Fi-156 prototypes were first flown. At the same time, Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM)-Reich Aviation Ministry issued requirments for liaison and artillery fire spotting aircraft for the Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe. This aircraft must have a Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) performance. The Fieseler Fi-156 fulfilled these requirements. Due to its long legged landing gear, like a very long-legged big-winged bird, The Fi-156 was given a nickname--the "Storch" (Crane).

After WWII, due to superb STOL performance and low production/operation cost, the Storch continued service in different countries-France, Czechoslovakia, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and South Vietnam.

This magnificent 1/35 scale Tristar aircraft, with all the attention to detail Tristar is noted for, is the first ever 1/35 Fi-156 on the market. In addition, this is also the first Fi-156 A0 / C1 ever produced.

Tristar used actual Fi-156 maintenance manuals in support of their design of this exemplary kit. The detailed wings and fuselage represent original plywood and fabric texture. All the flags, ailerons, elevators and rudder built at any angle.

Due to high specialized long and slim landing gear of Storch, the model uses real metal wire inserted in the landing gear to withstand the massive weight of wing and fuselages. In addition, the kit contains two sets of landing gear to represent Storch landed and Flying. The landing gear wheels are real rubber tires. The kit has fully detailed cockpit and optical open or closed entrance door. The control panel is made with transparent plastic. All dials represented by rearward decals that can be seen through dial windows on panel exactly like the real aircraft

Tristar included an amazingly "complex to design" yet simple, painted one piece sliding moulded canopy to reduce the complexity of assembly. The Pre-painting of this piece eliminates the tedious and troublesome assemply normally associated with complex canopies. An authentic V-8 engine is included and the engine cowlings are separated from the fuselage. This kit included five decal sets: Finland Air Force, 1940; Legion Condor in Spanish Civil war; Luffwaffe 1939 Poland invasion; Italian Air Force, Libya 1942; Luffwaffe in East Frontlines.
