Graf & Grislawski A Pair of Aces
With more than 300 photos, most of which are previously unpublished, from either Alfred Grislawski's
or Hermann Graf's private photo albums, the story of best friends during WWII is told, all written in close cooperation with Alfred Grislawski.
Color profiles by Claes Sundin of the aircraft flown by Graf & Grislawski.
At the same time as it is a book about a long-lasting friendship between two of the most skillful fighter aces of WW II, it can be read as the history of the rise and fall of the Luftwaffe Fighter Arm in WW II - as seen through the eyes of two protagonists.
Graf and Grislawski served with JG 51, JG 52, JG 50, JG 1, JG 11, and JG 53 on the Western Front, in the Balkans, on the Eastern Front, in the Reichsverteidigung, and over Normandie from 1939 to 1945.
Through a scrupulous research into archives in many countries have we been able to identify several pilots who were shot down by - or who shot down - Graf or Grislawski.
The book will once and for all provide answers to the questions:
* Was Hermann Graf identical with the "Major von Graff" who, according to Pierre Clostermann, was shot down by a Free French fighter pilot in July 1943?
* Did Hermann Graf really cooperate with the Soviets in captivity? (We present a totally unique material that we have found hidden in Russian archives - Hermann Graf's extensive POW dossier.)
Hard cover, 8 1/2" x 11", 312 pages, wartime b+w photos with color plates.
