In this first volume of a three-part work
on the capital of Berlin during the period of 1926 through 1945, part
one features images of Gauleiter Dr. Joseph Goebbels attends social and
political events during the 1936 Olympic Games, the Mussolini visit in
1937, the 1st May Day rally in 1938 with Hitler, Goebbels and Ley as a
speaker, the cornerstone of the "House of Tourism", the effects of
Kristallnacht which took place in Autumn 1938, with burnt out synagogue
and destroyed shops, Christmas 1938, the New Year reception at the
newly built Chancellery and an NSKK event before the Olympic Stadium in
January 1939. Also featured are photos of the Great Motor Show in
February and Hitler's 50th birthday parade on 20 April. Photos of
Hitler's famous speech "in reply to Roosevelt" on April 28th 1939 at
the session of the Reichstag at the Kroll Opera.
In addition, this illustrated book shows
Berlin's fascinating daily life in color, with photos of road
transport, shops, billboards, major buildings, and swimming at the
Wannsee.
